WELCOME TO 2023 – YEAR 18 OF OUR FIGHT FOR EQUAL PAY
Apologies for the delay in updating you. There have been lots of meetings and behind the scenes work, much of which is either boring or I cant share as its legally confidential.
The good news is that everything is on track. GCC staff are being helpful and working collaboratively to get this done.
The bad news is that there is yet more delay. Last time in 2019 it was all done at the end of a tax year but this time we are in the middle of a tax year which is causing complications as GCC need an agreement with HMRC to sort the taxation on the payments. This is causing some headaches.
There is risk that this may delay offers until April/may. nobody wants this but it may be unavoidable
Both ourselves, the unions and GCC are doing everything we can to get this sorted asap. We should have a better idea by the end of this month.
In the meantime one thing that will be different this time is that the documents and agreements will all be dealt with electronically. This means we need a verified email for everyone which can be password protected. 90% of people already have this so this will make everything much much faster.
As soon as I have anything more concrete I will let you know.
